A couple of weeks ago, I took the subway down to Brooklyn to document the shooting of the music video for “Secret Valentine” by the band We The Kings.

It’s fun to be a “fly on the wall” and find little backstage moments when they happen.

It was really cold, but I went out on the balcony to make this shot from the outside looking in. FYI – you might be able to see in the left window that they were shooting with the super-cool RED camera.

The guys seemed to be having a great time, despite the fact that they had been shooting all day and were exhausted.
The final video went up today on the band’s myspace page.
Dave,
Good stuff, as always. A question about a detail on the images:
In your workflow, how do you place the text on the image (your name/copyright, and the name of the subject)?
Thanks.
Peter
Peter, I created a very simple Photoshop action that I use on all of my images. It takes about 3 seconds to run.
I type in the band name and it does the rest by putting the band name on the bottom left and my copyright on the bottom right. I use a white font with a small black line around each letter so it will show up even when the photo is white in that spot.
I think it’s a good compromise because it gives me basic protection and photo credit while not covering up too much of the image.
Thanks for that tip!
WOW, my daughter would have loved to have been a fly on the wall there with you!!!
